I’ve wrapped up the first week of my new job at Camp Wyldewood. It’ s so amazing! I can’t wait to go back tomorrow and see all of my new friends. One of the highlights of the week were two videos we watched. The first one we watched was a sermon by Lou Giglio at Chris Tomlin’s How Great is Our God tour. He spoke about science (ironically) and some of the stars that astronomers have found and how God is an enormous star breathing being. Usually I’m not a huge fan of hearing about how big God is because, while it is important to know, it makes God seem so far away and out of our league. But this was different. Here’s a stat from the video. As of right now, the largest star we know of is called Kanus Majorus. If we were to compare earth to the size of a golf ball, you could fit enough earths inside Kanus Majorus to cover the entire state of Texas in golf balls. Oh yeah,… 22 inches high. …………………… That was me being speechless. Yeah, that’s one big God. That’s my God. Yet the same star breather lives inside every person in a more physical sense than ever before. Laminin. Yes, laminin. What is laminin you ask? It’s some kind of protein molecule that holds our bodies together literally. I’m sorry that’s all I know about it. I don’t speak genius. But what’s the left hook? It’s in the perfect shape of a cross! The God that had a drink of soda and burped out Kanus Majoris lives in our molecules. That’s right- molecules! Simply amazing. The next night we watched a video by Rob Bell called You. It was also amazing. Rob Bell never ceases to amaze me. In the video he talked about what was going on in the world when Jesus died and came back to life. Apparently, that was happening a lot at the time. So the story of Jesus wasn’t so special after all. He ends by saying that we are the gospel and we have to prove that the story of Jesus is a special one after all. It’s amazing. Shall we see how many times I can say the word “amazing” in one post? Fine, I won’t. Overall, I’d give each video an eleven out of ten. Amazing.
